Exclusive Baranja hunting grounds

Renowned for its abundance of game, outstanding trophy quality, and the experience of free-range hunting, Baranja is Croatia’s most exclusive hunting destination and ranks among the finest in Europe. In just four hunting days, with daily encounters with game, the success rate reaches 99%. Hunters are free to select the class of trophy they wish to pursue. Mature stags of management age (9–11 years) produce a high proportion of medal-class trophies, with an exceptional share scoring over 210 CIC points (gold medal level). While Croatia is not widely recognized as a classic hunting destination, research from 2021 reveals that the average score of red deer trophies above 210 CIC is 225.49 CIC points, placing Croatia first among 11 European countries.

Thanks to this exceptional quality, special arrangements can guarantee hunts for stags over 210 CIC points. Results speak for themselves: in 2018 a free-ranging stag of 260.48 CIC points was harvested by a Lovag’s guest, followed by one of 265.43 CIC points in 2021. (ubaciti slike VELIKIH )

The most attractive period is the rut (September 3 – 16), when trophy stags are observed and evaluated in advance by a team of ten professional gamekeepers. Hunts are carried out twice daily, usually from high stands, and when necessary by stalking roaring stags. During the rut, only trophy hunts are conducted, while culling hunts begin after the rut and continue until February 15, often in combination with wild boar hunting.

Accommodation: Three comfortable *** hunting lodges are located within the grounds, offering full board upon request.

In northeastern Croatia, the Drava and Danube rivers form one of Europe’s largest wetland floodplains, covering more than 40,000 hectares. This unique ecosystem, protected within the EU’s Natura 2000 network, includes the renowned Kopački Rit Nature Park. Part of the park encompasses a natural hunting ground of 27,000 hectares, where management practices are aligned with nature conservation. Untouched marsh forests and reed-covered wetlands barely visited by people create the perfect habitat for red deer, whose presence has been celebrated in the region since the 17th century. Many guests agree that this is not only a regional treasure but a world-class natural heritage site. The density of red deer here allows for an annual harvest of 150–200 stags of different management classes. Experts attribute this to the peace of the habitat, mineral-rich food sources, and centuries of gene exchange with Hungarian and Serbian populations, whose stags migrate into Baranja during the rut.

The grounds are expertly managed, and guides share their tradition, knowledge, and passion for hunting with every guest.

Equipped with well-maintained high stands, clearings, wildlife meadows, and feeding zones for hinds, the hunting area offers guests the choice between high seat hunting and stalking.

The fact that a significant share of the planned harvest is taken by returning hunters, and that most rut dates are fully booked by February, underlines the exclusive reputation of Baranja as a premier red deer hunting destination.
