Red deer of the beech forests of Papuk and Bilogora

Experience red deer hunting in the pristine, forested hills of Bilogora, Papuk, and Psunj, where centuries-old beech forests dominate the landscape. The terrain ranges from 150–300 m in elevation, reaching a maximum height of 980 m, with much of the area protected within a 35,000-hectare nature park. In this region, Lovag collaborates with five hunting grounds, the smallest covering 12,000 ha.

Hunting is primarily conducted during the rut, from September 7 to 15. The combination of abundant game and the tranquility of the grounds allows hunters frequent encounters with red deer, even during daylight hours, offering excellent chances of success. Hunts are carried out by traditional stalking, complemented by waiting from strategically placed high seats at known rutting sites.

While no special physical conditioning is required, hunters willing to put in a bit of effort will greatly enhance their chances of harvesting a mature stag with a trophy around 190 CIC points. Management culling is permitted after the rut.

Accommodation: Guests stay in comfortable hunting lodges within the grounds, with full board available.
