Red deer hunting in Podravina

Discover outstanding rut-season hunting in carefully selected hunting grounds
along the Drava River.

Stretching along the Drava River across Croatia and Hungary, this region offers prime habitats for red deer and has long been a key part of the European migratory corridor leading west to the Danube floodplains.

This forested lowland and floodplain area spans approximately 300 km and is divided into several hunting grounds, some of which provide an exceptionally well-organized hunting tourism experience during the rut.

Annual harvests are carefully managed, and during the rut, managers focus on harvesting the most valuable trophy stags as early as possible due to intense local migrations. For example, a 14,000-hectare hunting ground harvests around 24 stags annually, while a smaller 6,300-hectare ground takes only 14, with trophies ranging from 190–230 CIC points.

What sets these hunting grounds apart is their impeccable organization. Professional staff track rutting sites, monitor game movements, and select and evaluate stags for harvest. High seats strategically cover the main game corridors, and well-maintained forest tracks and rides allow guests to stalk hunt if desired, making the experience far less physically demanding than in other areas.

Guests travel from the lodge to the hunting grounds in just 10 minutes. Over a four-day hunt, hunters enjoy daily encounters with red deer, and with success rates exceeding 95%, nearly every guest celebrates the harvest of a mature, trophy-class stag in the comfort of the lodge alongside their hosts.
